Dear Heartland Customers, Family, and Friends:
I would like to thank you for taking the time to
look at our 2023 Performance with Class sale
offering. We are extremely proud of what we have
to offer and are excited to see these bulls and
females move on and produce in their new herds.
First, Mary and I would like to thank everyone
that has helped us out. It really does take an
army when you have an offering and cow herd of
this size. There have been a lot of long days, but
it sure has been the most enjoyable sale
experience I have had. To everyone that stepped up
and gave us a helping hand, just know Mary and I
are extremely grateful.
Now to the offering! This year we made a few
changes and 90K tested every bull in the offering.
When buying a bull that has Genomic Enhanced EPDs,
you are buying with the same level of confidence
in which that animal has sired between 10 to 36
calves, depending on the trait. So when reading
the EPDs on these bulls it is as if they already
have sired a calf crop and you can purchase these
bulls with much more assurance in the calves that
they will sire. Since we have done this testing
and taken a significant amount of guess work out,
we decided this year that we did not feel the need
to performance test or scan these bulls. The bulls
are an impressive group, there is a little bit of
everything for everyone. Performance bulls,
calving ease bulls, red bulls, Fleckvieh
influenced bulls, baldy bulls, carcass bulls, and
strong aged bulls. These guys are developed
correctly and are hard and lean, there is no
manufactured performance or phenotype through
excessively hard feeding in these guys.
The female offering will speak for themselves. We
held nothing back this year – the entire early
bred offering will be in Waverly on April 22nd.
There is a large set of females that will have 3
plus month old calves on them and all of them will
be ready to turn out and go to work. Buy with
confidence!
